Programme overview

This programme offers students in administration, business, and management a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a world-class scientific environment.

You will work on real projects that contribute to CERN’s mission, applying your academic knowledge to practical challenges in an administrative context. You will collaborate with professionals from various departments, developing both organisational and soft skills in a dynamic, international setting.

By the end of your placement, you will have gained valuable experience and a deeper understanding of the administrative field.

What we offer

  • A monthly allowance of 3452 Swiss Francs (tax free).
  • Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive Health Insurance scheme (the contribution will be automatically deducted from your allowance).
  • Family supplement to subsistence allowance, depending on your individual circumstances.
  • Travel expenses to Geneva upon joining CERN, depending on your individual circumstances.
  • 30 days of paid leave per year plus 2 weeks annual closure.
  • A contract duration of 2 to 12 months.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality
    You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
    Our Member and Associate Member States
  • Educational background and student status
    You have completed at least 18 months of your overall studies (3 semesters) in the respective field at the time of the selection. PhD students or holders are not eligible. You remain enrolled as a full-time student during your studentship.
  • Language skills
    You have a good knowledge of English or French.

Recruitment process for this programme

  1. Submit application
    Apply with your CV (in English or French) and complete the online application before the deadline.
    Add an academic reference letter + transcript (optional).
  2. Application review and interview
    Your application will be reviewed and you may be invited to take part in an online interview with the hiring manager(s) to discuss your application, CERN and the position, and for you both to determine if it could be a good fit.
  3. Offer and onboarding
    If you are successful, you will receive an offer. Once you accept, your onboarding journey begin!
