- Family-Friendly Environment: CERN offers a range of family-friendly initiatives designed to make life easier for employees and their families. From flexible working arrangements to on-site childcare facilities, we prioritise the needs of families to help you balance work and personal life effectively.
- Social Affairs Service: CERN provides support services to help make the transition to life at CERN smoother for you and your family, including guidance on relocation, language courses, schooling and healthcare.
- Community Events & Networks: We regularly organise events that bring together the entire CERN community, including your family. These events are more than just social gatherings; they are opportunities for families to connect, share experiences, and build lasting friendships within the CERN network. Our Social Affairs Service organises an annual welcome event for newcomers (Staff, Fellows, Graduates and Students), as well as their spouses/partners and family members who have recently arrived in the area.

- Career Opportunities: If eligible, we encourage family members to apply for the various opportunities that CERN has to offer.
- Work Permits and Visas: Navigating the complexities of work permits and visas can be challenging, but CERN is here to assist. Our experienced teams work closely with local authorities.
- Health and Well-being: The health and well-being of your family are important to us. CERN offers comprehensive healthcare services (CHIS) to spouse and dependent children to ensure that you and your family’s physical and mental well-being is well taken care of.
- Connecting Families: At CERN, we encourage families to form strong connections with one another. We provide platforms and opportunities for families to engage, share resources, and create a supportive network that extends beyond the workplace. One such avenue is through the CERN Clubs which are open to not only CERN members, but all family members as well.
