Electrical Technician

What you'll do

You will work on the qualification and characterisation of High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) tapes and cables that will be used for the High-Luminosity Upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) as well as for the development and fabrication of high-field magnets. We are looking for you who is curious and eager to learn. We will teach you everything you need to know about cryogenics and superconductivity, about building magnets and high current transfer lines.

Your responsibilities

Perform reel-to-reel indirect critical current measurements.
Conduct direct critical current and contact resistance measurements.
Analyse and present experimental test results.
Install the instrumentation in superconducting magnets.
Participate in the assembly and testing in the 100 kA class power transmission systems of the HL-LHC.
Verify and validate the instrumentation integrated into these systems.

Medical hazard

You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree. You can’t hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
