What you'll do
In close collaboration with the Archivist, the Archives Assistant and the Data Governance Officer, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining records management best practices across CERN, ensuring that information is managed effectively throughout its lifecycle.
Your responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee records management practices across CERN, including the DRO (Departmental Records Officers) network.
- Provide operational support for records management activities (data/metadata processing, quality control, digital migration).
- Establish a records management implementation strategy and related processes and procedures, and contribute to policy development.
- Develop and maintain retention schedules and related processes in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Lead innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in records management, and monitor KPIs.
- Lead apprentices, interns, and colleagues in records management.
- Deliver training and guidance to users and contribute to outreach and service activities.

Your profile
- Proven experience in records management within complex, digital environments, preferably in a large organisation or institution.
- In-depth knowledge and use of records management principles, standards, and lifecycle processes.
- Experience with digital records systems and their integration into wider IT ecosystems.
- Hands-on experience in analysing, handling, and improving data/metadata quality.
- Ability to translate policies and requirements into clear, user-oriented procedures.
- Familiarity with relevant tools (e.g. OpenRefine, CMS, AtoM, Invenio) is an asset.
- Experience in advising and engaging stakeholders, communicating clearly with them.
- Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Records Management, Archival Science or Library & Information Science or a related field. Proven qualification or formal training in records management, obtained either as part of the above degree programme or as a separate, recognised qualification.
