What you'll do

Are you a passionate mechanical technician, that would like to expand the horizons toward a new generation of beam instrumentation for the Future Circular Collider? Then join the team responsible for the mechanical design of beam instrumentation. You’ll be part of a thriving community interfacing with scientists for the conception of new instruments, within a collaboration that spans across Europe. You will be guided by experts into the mechanical design of state of the art techniques, interfacing with several services at CERN for the implementation of new Beam Position Monitors, and new techniques for beam emittance measurements. You’ll be part as well of the conception and assembly of tests set-up for beam instrumentation alignment, as well as testing prototypes at CERN’s beam test facilities like CLEAR.

Medical hazard

  • Exposure to risk of falling from heights during scaffolding assembly and dismantling operations
  • Use of certain mobile work equipment or equipment used for lifting loads (lifting equipment, bridge cranes, aerial work platforms, etc.) requiring a driving authorization
Given the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree. You can’t hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Please pay attention to the additional criteria and requirements for this specific position and mentioned above.
