What you'll do
Are you interested in shaping the next generation of particle accelerators? As a Mechanical Design Engineer at CERN, you will contribute to the design and development of normal-conducting magnets for the Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee). You will be involved in mechanical design, prototyping, and documentation of magnet components, while also supporting improvements to existing CERN accelerator magnets. Working closely with engineers, technicians, and industrial partners, you will help turn conceptual designs into tested hardware.
Your responsibilities
- Mechanical design of magnet components and assemblies using CAD tools.
- Participation in in-house manufacturing and mechanical assembly of normal-conducting magnet components.
- Follow-up of metrology and dimensional controls for in-house and industrially produced components.
- Maintenance and organisation of laboratory instrumentation and tooling.

Your profile
- Background in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering.
- Initial experience in mechanical design and development of technical components.
- Exposure to electromechanical components or devices is an asset.
- Your studies focused on Mechanical Engineering.
Your skills
- Mechanical design in a 3D CAD environment (experience with CATIA is an advantage).
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and procedures.
- Basic experience in following up manufacturing activities or industrial orders.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.
Medical hazard
- Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.

- You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State.
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field and your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must have a university degree and can’t hold a PhD.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
