What you'll do
Join a multidisciplinary project team designing, fabricating and testing a new generation of components for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC).
Be in charge of engineering studies and design of the new HL-LHC cryogenic distribution lines (QXL).
Structural static and buckling computations, thermomechanical studies, design of pressure equipment, advanced materials and material modelling, cryogenics, ultra-high vacuum technology, sustainable design and manufacturing, safety, reliability, product lifecycle management are just a few of the keywords related to this position.
Your responsibilities
- Be in charge of the mechanical engineering and design of components and equipment for accelerators, including technical drawings, for the Cryogenic Distribution Lines for the HL-LHC project.
- Perform state-of-the-art computations and simulations to dimension, analyse and optimize mechanical systems, components and their fabrication techniques, also reducing environmental impact and cost.
- Participate in a multi-technology project, in close interaction with other engineering teams and services, in particular CERN workshops, and taking part to product prototyping, tests, and diagnostics.
- Prepare and manage documentation such as presentations, technical reports, engineering specifications and calculation notes.
- Report on project activities advancement.
