What you'll do

You will join the Electrical Engineering Group (EN-EL), responsible for CERN’s electrical power-distribution network (from 400 kV to 400/230 V), fibre-optics infrastructure, and signal and DC-power cabling for the accelerator complex. As a Junior Asset Manager within the Maintenance and Operation section, you will manage the representation of CERN’s electrical network assets and associated inventory in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). You will define and implement asset hierarchies, failure codes and maintenance workflows, ensuring data quality and operational usability. Your responsibilities will cover both installed equipment across CERN’s electrical infrastructure and spare parts stored in warehouses.

Your responsibilities

  • Support the Asset Management Lead in the establishment and implementation of an asset management policy and strategy for the electrical group.
  • Design a hierarchical structure and data model for asset representation in the CMMS.
  • Lead site surveys to gather asset data and apply AI tools for processing where applicable.
  • Enter and configure asset data in the CMMS, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability.

Your profile

  • A first experience in or a good understanding of implementing, configuring, or administering a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), with a focus on asset structuring and maintenance data modelling.
  • A general knowledge of electrical assets such as transformers and MV/LV switchgear.
  • A first experience in or a good understanding of data collection and on-site surveys, ideally in collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Your studies focused on Electrical / Industrial Engineer

Your skills

  • Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • MS office (e.g. Excel, Word)
  • Asset structuring and maintenance data modelling
  • Familiarity with common AI-based tools or techniques for processing, classifying, or extracting data from field-collected or unstructured sources is an asset.

Medical hazard

  • Operations on electrical installations or in their vicinity (> 1000 Volt AC or 1500 Volt DC) requiring a specific authorization
  • Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions
Given the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.

  • Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field and your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must have a university degree and can’t hold a PhD.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
