What you'll do

We are looking for a full-stack software developer with DevOps experience. In this role, you will be a member of the Web, DevOps and Authoring section in the IT-PW group.

We have been consolidating all Web hosting services on our Platform as a Service (PaaS) infrastructure based on OpenShift/OKD4, including the supported CERN Web Content Management Systems (Drupal, WordPress). By joining us, you will support and contribute to the continuous improvement of .CERN top-level domain management and hosting.


CERN is managing its own top level internet domain. This generic top-level domain (gTLD) is used for hosting highly visible public websites such as CERN, Careers, openlab, etc.


Your responsibilities

  • Supporting and further integration of the handling of the top-level domain .CERN, including the process of certificate procurement and automation of certificate renewal.
  • Implementation of features for the CERN Web infrastructure services, including the Web Services Portal and dedicated functionality such as information retrieval from .CERN sites and extensions to the hosting mechanisms used for .CERN sites.

Your profile

  • Experience with full-stack software development.
  • Experience with version control systems and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes / OpenShift is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive mindset to identify challenges and drive innovative solutions.

Your skills

  • Programming in Python, JavaScript, React.
  • Knowledge of Web protocols and technologies (including certificates).
  • Git, CI/CD tools, test and deployment automation.
  • Knowledge of Web Content Management Systems would be an asset.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field and your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must have a university degree and can’t hold a PhD.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Please pay attention to the additional criteria and requirements for this specific position and mentioned above.
