Are you a self-motivated communications professional with experience in scientific communication for a wide range of audiences – from policymakers to students and industry, as well as the general public?
Would you like to join the team responsible for sharing the excitement of CERN openlab R&D projects, activities, and collaborative work, with the outside world? Are you skilled at producing simplified scientific materials across a variety of media (social media, videos, printed documents, web pages, etc.) and in organising events? Take part!
CERN openlab is a unique public-private partnership that provides a structured and collaborative framework enabling industry and research organisations to engage directly with CERN researchers. Through this framework, CERN openlab not only fosters scientific and technological collaboration but also facilitates industry participation and strategic investment in cutting-edge research and innovation on ICT, including computing and storage technologies, AI and HPC.
At its core, CERN openlab promotes the co-development of innovative solutions through close collaboration between scientific researchers and industry partners. Acting as an incubator for emerging technologies, it serves as a dynamic hub where CERN and its partners jointly push the boundaries of information and communication technologies.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and implement CERN openlab's strategic communication plan, ensuring alignment with CERN IT and central communications.
- Lead the creation, production, and dissemination of content across digital platforms, including social media (LinkedIn, X, Facebook and others), the CERN openlab website, and promotional materials.
- Develop, manage and evolve CERN openlab's website, ensuring high-quality content, strong visual identity, and effective user experience.
- Plan, create, and analyse social media campaigns from editorial planning to performance reporting, using appropriate multimedia and analytics tools.
- Conceptualise and produce high-quality publications and visual materials (annual reports, brochures, leaflets, promotional items) using professional design tools such as InDesign and Illustrator.
- Act as the communication interface between CERN openlab management, industry partners, researchers, and CERN central communication teams.
- Support and manage the communication of the CERN openlab Summer Student Programme, including promotion, lectures programme, and student-related communications.

- Experience managing and creating websites using CMS platforms such as Drupal and WordPress.
- Experience creating visual assets and short-form videos using tools such as Canva, Premiere Pro, and CapCut.
- Demonstrated expertise in digital content creation and multimedia production.
- Editorial design skills using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders in international environments.
- Ability to translate technical or scientific topics into accessible and engaging narratives.
- Experience within scientific, research, innovation, or technology environments would be considered an asset.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria
- You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
- By the application deadline, you have a master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of professional experience since graduation or a PhD with a maximum of 3 years of professional experience since graduation. You are not eligible with only a bachelor’s degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
