What you'll do
The Knowledge Transfer (KT) group (kt.cern) is in charge of seeking and realising opportunities for the application of CERN technologies in domains such as healthcare, environmental applications, quantum technologies, and aerospace. You will be part of KT’s Business Development section, working with CERN’s Medical Applications Adviser and colleagues in KT and across CERN.
You will be responsible for the financial and administrative management of an internal seed funding programme that bridges the gap between research and societal applications, and for the processing of licensing requests for mainly software and electronics technologies. You will also help optimise and implement procedures in the transition to a new Intellectual Property and Customer Relationship Management system.
Your responsibilities
- Manage the lifecycle of CERN's Medical Applications Budget and of the KT Fund: from call and launch to evaluation, award, project progress, budget monitoring, reporting, and updating records.
- Defining appropriate qualitative and quantitative KPIs for the funding programmes, monitoring and contributing to their continuous improvement.
- Act as Scientific Secretary for the Medical Applications Project Forum, plan and organise meetings, project reviews and presentations.
- Manage a portfolio of licensing and other KT partnerships, from opportunity identification to contract preparation and follow-up.
- Monitor the licensing portfolio performance, including contractual obligations, milestones, and financial flows, maintain electronic records, and contribute to reporting.
- Act as primary interface with internal and external partners (industry, academia, healthcare partners).
- Analyse and optimise business processes to enhance operational efficiency.

Your profile
- Professional experience or strong academic exposure to technology transfer or license management, research or innovation management, funding programme management, or a comparable role in an industrial or academic environment.
- Experience with administrative and financial project management
- Experience working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong motivation to work at the interface between science, technology, and industry.
- Knowledge and experience in electronics and/or software technologies is an advantage.
- Your studies focused on Business, Administration or STEM.
Your skills
- Ability to grasp the essential information about complex technologies and to understand their applicability to fields outside particle physics.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with autonomy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, working collaboratively with scientists, administrators and industry partners.
- Proficiency in standard office and data management tools.
- Experience in programme or project management is an asset.
- Experience with IP and CRM tools for innovation management or knowledge transfer is an asset.
- Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
