What you'll do
You will join a small technical team of engineers and technicians responsible for the design, prototyping, assembly, testing and installation of the Detector Safety System (DSS) and the subdetector safety systems. The team is also responsible for the operation of the existing central DSS system before its replacement by the new DSS system. You will also interface with the team in charge of the subdetector safety systems and the group in charge of the definition of the DSS architecture. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a young professional to gain hands-on experience in applied electronics projects, contributing to large-scale industrial infrastructures in a cutting-edge technological environment.
Your responsibilities
- Support the various activities associated to the construction and testing of the new CMS DSS.
- Connect and configure the electronic cards and crates.
- Take part in the manufacturing and installation of the electronic crates for the safety systems.
- Follow up the installation of the cables for the signals exchanged between the central DSS and the subdetector safety systems and the other technical services, at Point 5 and in the CMS laboratories at CERN.
- Take part to DSS testing and commissioning activities.
- Support the DSS expert for programming the alarm action matrix of the CMS detector.
- Collate the data, prepare the reports, and upload the documentation in the database.
- Follow up and present the progress of the works done by the DSS team to CMS Safety and Technical Coordination teams.
