What you'll do
As a versatile Facility and Safety Support Technician, you will play a key role in the management of the ATLAS facility during Long Shutdown 3 (2026–2030). As a member of a small team within ATLAS Technical Coordination, you will liaise with detector teams, contribute to equipment logistics, including waste management, and support occupational safety on site, helping to ensure a smooth detector installation process.
Your responsibilities
- Manage waste at the ATLAS facility by supporting equipment removal and waste sorting, and ensuring the timely availability of skip containers.
- Provide equipment owners with packaging materials and support transport and logistics to and from CERN.
- Organize temporary storage for various consolidation projects in both surface and underground facilities.
- Monitor ongoing site activities and promote safety awareness by carrying out safety tours, reporting observations, and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure the availability and inspection of safety equipment, and participate in its maintenance.
- Perform shifts in the ATLAS control room.
- Carry out scaffolding inspections in the experimental area.
- Provide versatile technical support to the ATLAS Safety team and the ATLAS Infrastructure team.

Your profile
- Relevant experience in facility management and logistics.
- Proven hands-on experience with on-site technical activities.
- Proven track record in occupational safety.
- Initial experience in the maintenance and assembly of electromechanical systems.
- Strong motivation to contribute to the operation of the ATLAS facility.
- Technical certificate or general secondary education or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electromechanics, Logistics, Safety or a related field.

- Operation and maintenance of electromechanical equipment and systems:
- Waste management.
- Safety conformity assessment.
- Use of office software packages.
- Knowledge of personal protective equipment would be an advantage.
- Builds and maintains constructive and effective work relationships.

- Delivers high quality work on time and fulfils expectations.
- Works well autonomously; takes on activities and tasks without prompting.

- Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
Medical hazard
- Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.
- Exposure to risk of falling from heights during scaffolding assembly and dismantling operations.
Employment conditions
- A valid driving licence.
- Shift work, when required by the needs of the Organization.
- Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
- Work in Radiation Areas.
- Interventions in underground installations.
