What you'll do

We are seeking an experienced Editorial Coordinator with a strong scientific background to work on the Open Research Europe (ORE) platform, soon to be hosted at CERN. As part of a growing team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing editorial policies and processes while coordinating with scientific advisory boards, outsourced editorial partners, and production teams, applying excellent scientific judgment to evaluate research quality.

Your responsibilities

  • Implement editorial procedures for ORE following policies developed in coordination with ORE governance and Scientific Advisory Board.
  • Ensure consistent application of editorial standards across all submissions.
  • Suggest adaptation of policies as needed based on operational feedback and evolving best practices.
  • Oversee editorial workflows with external partners, from pre-publication checks through peer review.

Your profile

  • Extensive experience as an academic/scientific journal editor, ideally in interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary publishing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing peer-review processes and models (including the Publish-Review-Curate (PRC) model) and in editorial decision-making.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing editorial policies.
  • Familiarity with scholarly publishing standards and best practices (COPE, ICMJE, DOAJ criteria).
