What you'll do
You will join the Electrical Engineering (EL) Group within the Engineering Department (EN), and more specifically the Maintenance and Operation (MO) Section, responsible for the maintenance and operation of CERN’s electrical transmission and distribution network. As an Asset Management Expert, you will apply your expertise in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and inventory management to support the operation, maintenance, consolidation and extension of CERN’s complex electrical infrastructure. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring the reliability and performance of the power systems that sustain one of the world’s most advanced scientific laboratories.
Your responsibilities
- Conduct a thorough inventory and classification of all assets composing the electrical network,
- Define a hierarchical structure and data model for representing assets in the CMMS,
- Coordinate site surveys to collect asset information and process the data using AI-based tools where applicable,
- Input and configure all asset data in the CMMS, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and traceability,
- Monitor data quality in the CMMS through regular audits, validation routines, and continuous improvement activities,
- Identify data gaps and collaborate with field teams and technical experts to resolve them,
- Configure and manage failure codes to support fault analysis and optimisation of maintenance processes,
- Assist maintenance managers in defining and assigning preventive maintenance tasks, scheduling frequencies, and associating necessary resources (e.g. labour, tools, spare parts),
- Support users (technicians and engineers) by providing training, user documentation, and technical assistance related to asset and maintenance data,
- Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation on all CMMS asset configurations, hierarchies, and related structures,
- Assist in the creation of dashboards and reports related to asset status, maintenance history, and KPIs (e.g., MTBF),
- Define the organisation and tracking of spare parts in the warehouse, ensuring correct identification, classification, and linkage to the corresponding assets in the CMMS.
- You will also support the Group on operational activities when needed, for example in attending periodic tests on the network.
