What fields of study are covered by the Summer Student Programme?

Topics covered include: Applied, Theoretical and Experimental Physics as well as Engineering and Computing. Students in all these fields are eligible to take part in the Programme.

Do I have to speak English and/or French to come to CERN?

CERN is a bi-lingual Organization, with French and English as working languages. It is important to at least have some knowledge of one of these two languages when you apply: the specific language requirements will be provided in the vacancy notice you apply for. One thing is for sure: if you don't know one of the two languages, coming to work at CERN will give you a great opportunity to learn it!

How can I migrate my account from the previous platform to the new one?

In case you had an account in our previous system, please note that it will not be migrated to the new system. Therefore, you will need to create a new account the next time you apply for a position/programme.

How can I apply for the Job Shadowing Programme?

If you are a student, you might be eligible for our Job Shadowing Programme. Please note that, this “Job shadowing” must form part of your school programme.

For more details and how to apply for this programme, please visit this page.

CERN will be moving to COVID Level 1 – Green on Monday 14 March 2022 and therefore re-opening the Job Shadowing program. This is a big step and some CERN services may not yet be ready to adapt to measures as per Level 1 – Green as from Monday 14 March. In such cases, the transition will be carried out gradually and we thank you for your patience.

Is my reference letter/report on candidate still valid?

Unless specified otherwise on the description of the programme/position, the reference letters you previously submitted remain valid for 12 months. Please note that, when applying for new positions, the letters must be less than 12 months old at the time of the selection.
