What you'll do
Join CERN’s Geodetic Metrology Group and contribute to the metrology and alignment of components used in particle physics experiments. Your main focus will be the Full Remote Alignment System (FRAS), which uses a network of high-precision sensors and electromechanical actuators to monitor and remotely adjust accelerator components with micrometric precision.
As a Mechanical Technician in the High Precision Alignment Technologies Section, you will contribute to the procurement, assembly, testing, installation and commissioning of FRAS mechanical and electromechanical components.
Your responsibilities
- Supporting the procurement of FRAS mechanical and electromechanical components, including quality assurance and acceptance activities.
- Assembling and testing FRAS components, initially in the workshop and subsequently in the LHC tunnel.
- Preparing assembly, installation and validation documentation, including reports and procedure updates.
- Taking part in the commissioning of the mechanical and electromechanical equipment, from individual components through to the complete FRAS installation.
