What you'll do
As a Mechanical CAD Designer in the Superconducting Magnet Technology section, you will develop three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) models and detailed drawings for novel superconducting magnets and associated tooling. Working closely with engineers and other technical specialists, you will take part in research and development projects for future particle accelerators. Your work will help transform innovative magnet concepts into manufacturable prototypes and practical assembly solutions.
Your responsibilities
- Prepare 3D CAD mechanical models and drawings of short magnet demonstrators, prototypes and associated tooling, in close collaboration with other colleagues in the section.
- Update CAD models and drawings to integrate feedback from construction and assembly activities.
- Contribute to technical discussions related to mechanical tolerances, machining methods and assembly procedures.
- Support procurement of components and update CAD models and drawings to reflect as-built configurations.
- Assist colleagues with tailored 3D models for computer numerical control (CNC) machining and simulations (electromagnetic, mechanical).
