What you'll do
Are you passionate about software development? Are you interested in supporting open science and reproducible computational research across Europe? Join our team working on the open-source REANA platform for reproducible computational data analyses! You will specifically take part in the nascent European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Federation and the EOSC Mesh project which is designing federated digital infrastructures to cross-link research environments across Europe.
Your responsibilities
- Collaborate with European Open Science Cloud project partners on developing cross-node federated analysis workflow infrastructure and support corresponding scientific use cases.
- Participate in the evolution the CERN Node of the EOSC Federation, allowing researchers to analyse more than 5 petabytes of open data from experimental particle physics.
- Contribute to the service deployment, operations and monitoring on the Kubernetes cloud.
- Work closely with researchers to provide support for cross-node computational data analysis examples.
- Participate in the operation and development of the REANA reproducible data analysis platform.

Your profile
- Experience in full-stack software development and with frontend and backend software engineering technologies.
- Experience with container technologies and application deployment, monitoring and security.
- Some familiarity with basic principles of computational research data analyses would be a plus.
- Some prior experience working in European Commission co-funded projects would be a plus.
- Your studies focused on Computer Science or equivalent.
Your skills
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with an interest in collaborative open-source development.
- Frontend development technologies: React.
- Backend development technologies: Python, Go.
- Application deployment: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
- Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
Employment conditions
- Stand-by duty, when required by the needs of the Organization.

- You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani, Lithuanian, Latvian, Cypriot and Croatian nationals, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field and your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must have a university degree and can’t hold a PhD.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
