Join CERN’s IT Department and help support projects at the forefront of science and technology.

The IT Department supports a broad portfolio of international scientific and technology initiatives, including collaborations with research institutions, industry partners, and the European Commission. These projects range from technology assessments to the co-development of digital solutions across the areas covered by the Department’s mandate and in support of the CERN community.



Your responsibilities

  • Support budget planning, forecasting, and the maintenance of financial records, tracking files, and reporting tools.
  • Prepare and consolidate financial reports, budget updates, and analytical material for internal reviews, governance meetings, and audits.
  • Monitor expenditure, validate financial transactions and purchase requests, and help ensure compliance with internal procedures and financial rules.
  • Analyse financial and resource data to support planning, prioritisation, and decision-making.

Your profile

  • Experience and strong interest in resource planning, financial monitoring, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with CERN budget processes and financial tools is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Finance, Business Administration, Project Administration or a related field.

Your skills

  • Financial reporting and analysis: Strong financial reporting and analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and working with structured data.
  • Use of accounting tools: Experience using financial or accounting systems, ideally including ERP or institutional finance tools.
  • Personnel and material resources planning: Knowledge of budget planning and personnel and material resource coordination.
  • Works conscientiously and reliably; delivers on promises.

  • Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
  • You have relevant qualifications and professional experience.
  • If you have previously held a Staff contract at CERN, you will not be eligible for these positions.
