What you'll do

Are you passionate about technology and interested in supporting the CERN research communities? Join the CERN IT Platforms Group and the team responsible for the Web Hosting services for the thousands of websites and web applications deployed by the CERN communities.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for running, operating, and evolving CERN's Web Hosting services based on Kubernetes and OpenShift, ensuring appropriate operations and support for our communities.
  • Ensure support and growth of CERN's OpenShift-based PaaS platform, in particular the integrations with CERN identity and networking via Kubernetes operators.
  • Support the common tools for deployment and configuration of our platforms and applications, and extension of our services to public cloud resources.
  • Provide guidance and support to the owners of websites and applications, including providing migration paths for remaining legacy web servers to the modern Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.

Your profile

  • Initial experience in deploying applications to Kubernetes/OpenShift.
  • Experience with Linux system administration.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes security best practices.
  • Your studies focused on Computer Science.

Your skills

  • Good knowledge of cloud native technologies, particularly Kubernetes and/or OpenShift/OKD. CKA/CKAD/CKS certification is a plus.
  • Problem solving attitude.
  • Knowledge of Bash.
  • Knowledge of programming in GoLang and/or Python is a plus.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field and your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must have a university degree and can’t hold a PhD.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Please pay attention to the additional criteria and requirements for this specific position and mentioned above.
