What you'll do
As mechanical technician you will be part of a team working on designing, developing, validating concepts, procedures, and tools to produce demonstrators and short models of superconducting accelerator magnets – how exciting is that? You will contribute in-field to prototyping and construction activities in relation with the engineering and construction of superconducting magnets. This is a great opportunity to learn on the job.
Your responsibilities
- Participate to the different phases of the fabrication of superconducting coils (based on Low Temperature Superconducting technology), such as cable insulation and respooling, winding and curing, preparation for heat treatment, splicing, preparation for epoxy impregnation, vacuum pressure impregnation, finishing and metrology.
- Participate to the assembly of superconducting demonstrators and short model magnets.
- Support production activities by preparing or modifying mechanical components on conventional machines (milling, turning).
- Participate to the development of custom made tooling.
