What you'll do

As an electromechanical technician, you will assemble and test cryostats and associated equipment for superconducting accelerator systems (such as magnets and power transfer lines), contributing to their production, installation and maintenance, including hands-on interventions on CERN accelerators, such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Your responsibilities

  • Assemble cryostats and electromechanical equipment for accelerator systems, such as superconducting magnets, related electric transfer lines and feedthroughs for cryogenic applications.
  • Perform interventions in the LHC tunnel for installation, maintenance or dismantling of cryoassemblies, during shutdowns or maintenance periods.
  • Manufacture and modify parts using conventional machining (milling, turning) and forming.
  • Handle logistics of components and stock for assigned assemblies, launching and following up manufacturing requests and purchase orders and performing acceptance tests.

Your profile

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical manufacturing and assembly of complex electromechanical equipment, including simple conventional machining.
  • Experience with procurement follow-up and inventory handling for components, spare parts and tooling.
  • Experience with quality documentation, such as working with procedures, compiling tests and measurements reports, ensure traceability of components.
  • Previous experience in cryogenics or superconducting systems would be an asset.

  • Assembly of mechanical structures and equipment.
  • Knowledge and application of manufacturing methods and work preparation.
  • Manufacturing of mechanical parts.
  • Production of 2D drawings and 3D models.

Employment conditions

  • A valid driving licence.
  • Shift work, when required by the needs of the Organization.
  • Participation in a regular stand-by duty, including nights, Sundays and official holidays.
