What you'll do
You will design, integrate, and operate advanced machine learning capabilities within CERN’s machine learning platform, enabling scalable, secure, and reusable ML services for scientific and IT workloads. Working closely with experiments and service teams to onboard their ML use cases in a reliable, performant and sustainable manner, you will build CERN’s next-generation LLM and AI agent platform, tuning models into secure, scalable services for scientific and operational use cases. You will be responsible for the design and integration of the selected tools after extensive due diligence and validation against CERN use cases in all departments.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and operate the machine learning service of CERN IT, covering model training, hyper-parameter optimisation and serving, targeting optimal usage of accelerator resources.
- Integrate and operate LLM and AI agent capabilities within the CERN machine learning service, including scalable model serving, agent frameworks, and secure multi-tenant access.
- Extend existing MLOps workflows to cover deployment, observability and lifecycle management of models, agents and RAG pipelines targeting CERN and external data sources.
- Produce and present reference architectures, documentation and best practices to support CERN users and use cases.
- Ensure efficient collaboration with other groups in IT and in other departments, as well as constant alignment with the evolving landscape of external research and industry organisations.
