What you'll do

You will join CERN’s Sustainability Office and support delivery of the Organisation’s 2027 Sustainability Report project. Working under the supervision of the Sustainability Strategy Implementation and Reporting Officer, you will contribute to the setting up, drafting and publication elements of the project. The project will conclude with setting up the follow-on 2029 Sustainability Reporting cycle. This role offers a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on experience in sustainability strategy implementation and reporting within an international and multidisciplinary environment.

Your responsibilities

  • Supporting the development and documenting of CERN's social, and governance initiatives.
  • Collecting and analysing sustainability data.
  • Supporting project implementation and coordination efforts, monitoring progress, and documenting results.
  • Contributing to the preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and compliance with global standards.

Your profile

  • Experience working with sustainability projects and the application of international social and governance standards and frameworks (e.g. GRI, CSRD, UN Global Compact).
  • Experience in implementing sustainability strategies, notably with respect to social and governance actions, and with a particular focus on project delivery, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in sustainability reporting and the production of professional, accurate, and engaging reports and communications in English, with the ability to distil complex social and governance topics into clear, actionable insights.
  • A demonstrated interest in, or experience of, working within a technical international organisation.

Your skills

  • Ability to create training materials and communicate technical concepts through presentations and workshops.
  • Solid organisational skills and a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with client handling and interpersonal skills.
  • Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
  • By the application deadline, you have a master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of professional experience since graduation or a PhD with a maximum of 3 years of professional experience since graduation. You are not eligible with only a bachelor’s degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Please pay attention to the additional criteria and requirements for this specific position and mentioned above.
