What you'll do
In this role, you will support the operation and reliability of CERN’s electronics pool equipment by testing, qualifying and maintaining a wide range of electronic instruments used in high-energy physics experiments and laboratories. You will maintain and improve test benches and procedures, troubleshoot equipment issues, and contribute to the evaluation of new devices. Through your work, you will help ensure the availability and performance of essential electronics systems for experimental teams.
Your responsibilities
- Testing electronics equipment and instrumentation, identifying faults and carrying out firmware and hardware fixes.
- Creating and correcting test procedure documentation when required.
- Maintaining hardware and software of existing test benches in collaboration with the responsible technicians.
- Participating in the daily operations of the electronics pool service and provide occasional support to the service users.

Your profile
- Interest in the field of electronics.
- Basic experience in testing, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment (including modular electronics and instrumentation).
- Experience in user support or customer-oriented services is considered an asset.
- Your studies focused on Electronics.
Your skills
- Knowledge and application of instrumentation and measurement techniques.
- Operation and maintenance of data-acquisition, monitoring and control systems.
- Application of modular low and high-voltage power supplies.
- Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria
- You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree. You can’t hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
