What you'll do
You will join CERN’s Continuous Improvement team and contribute to supporting process improvement initiatives across the Organisation.
Working closely with and under the supervision of senior colleagues, you will contribute to the identification, selection, conception and delivery of improvement projects. You will also have an active role in the Organisation and delivery of process improvement training across the Organisation.
This role offers a valuable opportunity to develop readily transferable hands-on experience of process improvement methodologies and their practical application, all within an international and dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
Your responsibilities
- Participating in the sourcing, generation, processing, selection and follow up of process improvement ideas.
- Assisting in designing process improvement projects by documenting administrative and operational needs, identifying value, and creating detailed process maps, workflow diagrams, and project plans capable of delivering and measuring improvement.
- Supporting project implementation efforts, monitoring progress, collecting and analysing performance data and documenting results.
- Analysing market, industry, or internal data to identify or benchmark trends and insights.
- Contributing to and developing communication strategies and content to provoke project ideas and to promote a continuous improvement culture that celebrates the benefits/successes of individual CERN continuous improvement projects while also recognising the challenges.
- Organising and co-facilitating training sessions and developing training materials on process improvement methodologies.
- Carrying out any other required tasks related to the Continuous Improvement team's work according to need.

Your profile
- Interest in process improvement and process improvement methodologies (e.g. LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Interest in/basic familiarity with tools like Excel, SQL or data visualisation platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI).
- Interest in/basic familiarity of project management basics, business analysis techniques (e.g. Agile/Scrum), or business tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Trello).
- Interest in creating training materials, delivering presentations, or facilitating workshops.
- Interest in working within a dynamic, technical international organisation.
- Your studies focused on Business; Management; IT; related field.
Your skills
- Strong research, analytical, documentation, process design, problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.
- Solid organisational skills and a methodical approach to work, including preparing and attending meetings, capturing discussions/decisions, assisting in following up.
- Helping with project planning and tracking progress.
- Ability to work effectively and, over time, increasingly independently within a diverse international environment.
- Comfortable working in an environment where priorities may shift and a diverse range of tasks may be assigned; flexibility is essential.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and basic data analysis tools (SQL, Tableau, or Power BI) would be an advantage.
- Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

- You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field and your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must have a university degree and can’t hold a PhD.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
