What you'll do
Join the Geodetic Metrology group at CERN, where you will take part in the metrology and alignment of a wide variety of components that are used in particle physics experiments! You will use state-of-the art surveying tools and software to achieve the sub-millimetre accuracy necessary to meet our goals. You will participate in the definition of the geodetic metrology strategy, including the development of new solutions for remote and automated measurements. You will primarily contribute to the HL-LHC project, as well as to various alignment activities across the injector complexes and the LHC.
Your responsibilities
- Develop, validate and apply a robotic solution to enhance the tracing process for HL-LHC installation.
- Perform and compute "as built" measurements of tunnels and buildings of HL-LHC project using the 3D laser scanner technology.
- Perform metrology measurements at all stages during the assembly of HL-LHC components using laser trackers.
- Perform survey activities, including network measurements, installation tasks, and alignment processes, from the preparation and realisation of interventions.
- Write the corresponding survey reports, and manage the relevant documentation.
- Improve and optimise related survey procedures, methods and software.
