Electrical Technician

What you'll do

As an Electrical Technician, you will participate under the guidance of engineers in the electrical and electronics development, wiring and testing required for the upgrade of high-power radio frequency amplifiers, their control and power supplies.

Your responsibilities

Modify or create schematics using Electronics and Electricity software (such as Cadence, Altium Designer, See Electrical or Eplan).
Dismount obsolete equipments and cables to prepare the upgrade of old systems.
Build, wire and test electrical crates (and perhaps electronics boards).
Install and test various equipment (serviced or new) such as: power supplies, control boards, current sensors.
Be involved in the development, wiring and testing of high-power radio frequency equipment (from electrical distribution through high voltage to control electronics).
Have the opportunity to receive training in various advanced techniques used in the field of high-power radio frequency: maintenance, testing of RF systems and specific RF measurements.
Contribute to quality documentation and be fully integrated into the R&D team, which includes engineers and students.
And as a member of the team, you will also follow up the operation of the different RF systems of the section as part of an on-call service.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State.
By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree. You can’t hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
