What you'll do
You will join the team working with electrical substations and outdoor high-voltage installations at the 18 kV level. The purpose of these installations is the compensation of reactive power that is consumed by CERN’s particle accelerators. In close cooperation with our experienced lead technical engineer, you will work on the two worksites for new projects, in HL-LHC P1 and P5.
Your responsibilities
- Realisation of 3-D mechanical drawings for the integration of racks and control chassis into high-voltage substations.
- Realisation of electrical circuit diagrams for the control and protection circuits.
- Realisation of protection and control chassis, including their installation, cabling and testing.
- Supervision of the work of contractors on the worksite (control racks and protection relays).
- Supervision and coordination of high-voltage cable installation work.
- Participation in the testing and commissioning of these new installations, including their controls, remote supervision and protection systems.
- Study, integration, implementation, and testing new controls and protection relays for other similar high-voltage projects.
- Participation in dielectric testing of insulation systems.
