What you'll do
You will join the Electronic Systems for Experiments Group (ESE) of the Experimental Physics Department (EP), which designs electronic systems and ASICs for CERN experiments and provides a range of electronics-related services. As an Electronics Technician within the Front-End section, you will actively contribute to the development, procurement, assembly, and testing of electronics, printed circuit boards, and multi-chip modules for powering, readout, and control of particle detectors at CERN.
Your responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic circuits, including schematic capture and PCB layout, as part of a team of engineers and technicians.
- Support the procurement of electronic components, equipment, and printed circuit boards, and manage stock.
- Support logistics and quality control of large-volume procurements of detector modules.
- Perform quality inspections of components and assembled circuits to ensure compliance with acceptance criteria.
- Assemble, troubleshoot, and rework PCBs, including soldering of surface-mount devices and connectors.
- Conduct functional and performance tests on circuits using electronic measurement instruments and document results.
- Develop and maintain test equipment, including automation software for testing processes.
- Execute electrical and optical cabling, including fabrication of cable harnesses and cable assemblies.
- Design mechanical parts using CAD tools and manufacture them using machine tools, CNC machines, and 3D printers.

- Detail-oriented and hands-on professional with a background in electronics or mechatronics.

- Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electronics Engineering or a related field.
