What you'll do
You will become part of an international team working on the Upgrade of the ECAL sub-detector of the LHCb experiment.
Your responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly of modules made of lead or tungsten absorber and polystyrene fibres;
- Participation in the dismantling and reassembly of the LHCb ECAL in the coming years;
- Design and machining of precision pieces and tooling;
- Mechanical support for test beam campaigns.

Your profile
- Experience with traditional and CNC machining;
- Knowledge of CAD software, ideally CATIA;
- Assembly of complex mechanical structures;
- Your studies focused on Mechanics.
Your skills
- Gluing technologies;
- 3D printing;
- Quality Control testing;
- Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
Medical hazard
- Exposure to lead
- Exposure to ionising radiation and classified as category A.
- Exposure to risk of falling from heights during scaffolding assembly and dismantling operations.
- Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.
Employment conditions
- A valid driving licence.
- Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organisation.
- Interventions in underground installations.
- Work in Radiation Areas.

- You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State.
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree. You can’t hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
