What you'll do

You will become part of an international team working on the Upgrade of the ECAL sub-detector of the LHCb experiment.

Your responsibilities

Mechanical assembly of modules made of lead or tungsten absorber and polystyrene fibres;
Participation in the dismantling and reassembly of the LHCb ECAL in the coming years;
Design and machining of precision pieces and tooling;
Mechanical support for test beam campaigns.

Medical hazard

Exposure to lead
Exposure to ionising radiation and classified as category A.
Exposure to risk of falling from heights during scaffolding assembly and dismantling operations.
Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.

Given the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.

Employment conditions

A valid driving licence.
Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organisation.
Interventions in underground installations.
Work in Radiation Areas.

You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State.
By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree. You can’t hold a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
