What you'll do
You will join us as a Mechanical Engineer within the ATLAS Detector Team, contributing to the development and construction of the next generation of particle detectors. Working in the Tracker Section (EP-ADE-TK) and in close collaboration with the Detector Technologies Group (EP-DT), you will take part in the design, prototyping, assembly and testing of the ATLAS ITk Pixel Outer Barrel support structures and tooling. Your work will be hands-on and technically challenging, involving precision engineering and integration activities for one of the most advanced components of the future ATLAS Inner Tracker.
Your responsibilities
- Participate in the conception and detailed design of detector components, tooling and quality control infrastructure for the construction of the ITk Pixel Outer Barrel.
- Verify the design of components and tooling according to the relevant standards and best engineering practices, performing both analytical and numerical calculations.
- Develop, document, and implement tools and procedures for the assembly, installation, testing, and repair of detector components, sub-assemblies and services.
- Participate hands-on in the detector integration work in Building 154 and the ATLAS SR1 cleanroom, supporting the assembly, testing and installation activities.
- Prepare technical specifications for detector components and tools, following up their production, acceptance and installation.
